Police volunteer workers from the Police College Volunteers' Team, the Police Football Referees Club and the Police Motoring Club lent a hand at the Hong Kong Red Cross' fundraiser - "Jessie Ho Fung Yuet-yin Sports Day" at the Aberdeen Sports Ground on January 24. The event raised over $3 million for the specialised medical care and education for handicapped and mentally retarded children under the care of the Hong Kong Red Cross. Joining the police volunteers in this charity event were members of the Hong Kong Paradise of Motor Cars (mainly comprising retired police officers) and the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps. Police College Director, Dr Cheuk Chun-yin, was on hand to boost the police volunteers' morale at the venue, while Superintendent Chan Wing-leung, Chairman of the Police Football Referees Club, and Senior Inspector Ng Tak-shing, Vice Chairman of the Police Motoring Club, worked as the Overall Commander and Field Commander respectively, ensuring that the fundraiser ran smoothly.
