Warm reunion on a cold day
It was a cold day on February 17 but it was the day when Police Dog Antje returned home. The Police Dog Unit fully appreciates the great help offered by Mr Chan Chi-kit of Kau Wa Keng Old Village in making the reunion of Antje and her Handler Sergeant (SGT) Yuen Chung-fai possible at the beginning of the Chinese New Year.
Besides reporting the whereabouts of Antje to the Police, Mr Chan went to the trouble of feeding hungry Antje and leashing her into safety. If not for his thoughtful action, Antje might still be wandering on Sham Shui Po hillside.
Antje was still quite healthy though hungry on the reunion day. She sustained minor scratches on her limbs but still walked and leapt in good shape. After a period of quarantine and full recovery, she will be on the beat with SGT Yuen again after re-training, if necessary.
After the cheerful re-union, SGT Yuen, while on scheduled leave the next day, could not wait and visited Mr Chan to thank him personally for his kindness in bringing Antje home. Sham Shui Po District also presented an official appreciation letter to Mr Chan on the same occasion.
