Yuen Long District (YLDIST) Commander Li Kin-fai and Deputy District Commander Gary Field hosted a liaison lunch in late February for local Nepalese community leaders to enhance mutual understanding. This forum provided a good opportunity to discuss matters of security and livelihood concerns of the Nepalese in Yuen Long.

Prominent figures of various Nepalese groups and organisations were present at the luncheon gathering, namely Hong Kong Minority Communities Association, Hong Kong Nepalese Foundation, Hong Kong Nepalese Woman Association as well as some Nepalese teachers. Afterwards, the party visited the Sagarmatha Kindergarten, where over 100 Nepalese kids presented a greeting card, "Police - Our Friend" to officers. The kids were filled with joy when they received "red packets" containing chocolate and the Force logo.

YLDIST, which has 11,600 Junior Police Call (JPC) members or the largest JPC cadre of the Force, is expanding recruitment for NEC JPC members with an outreach programme to local NEC schools, having recruited 299 NEC JPC members so far, more than double of the 129 half a year before.
