A local resident has praised 10 officers over a case of street mugging, during which two young thugs tried to snatch her belongings. In a letter to New Territories South Regional Commander, the resident described the officers as "my saviours".

The complimented officers are SSGT Chu Hing-tak from STDIV, SGT Lee Kai-shing, PCs Tse Chi-fung, Chu Wai-tung, Yip Chun-tai, Cheng Chun-ho and Chow Chi-wai, all from EU NTS, as well as SGT Lee Chung-leung, PCs Tang Kwok-kin and Yeung Chi-kin, all from TWDIST.

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to our police force. Indeed, due to the force work ethics, professionalism and courage, society can be a little bit more at peace nowadays. After a long day of work, last Sunday, February 21, little did I know I was going to be the victim of petty thieves. Indeed on my way back home, two young men roughed me up while trying to steal my belongings. The incident was surreal, I was in shock but as soon as I got my senses back, I decided to fight back. Eventually, due to my petite stature, I got overpowered and saw the thieves running away with my bag. To my surprise, my saviours were "off-duty" policemen who went out of their way to help a citizen in distress.

Also I need to praise other police officers from Tsuen Wan District because of their good services, professionalism, politeness and I am really grateful for what your guys did for me. Looking back at this unfortunate event, one can say there are still a few good people around with great spirit. Indeed, I was humbled by my saviours' charm: they carry themselves very well! I am very fortunate.

Ms Fong
