MDP seminars underway |

The Management Development Programme (MDP) series for 2010 has started, with the Police College conducting a Gold Standard seminar and a Gold Standard workshop on March 3 and 4 respectively. The Gold Standard is the UK's national standard on resilience programme run on "Public Private Partnership" principles. The purpose of the programme is to learn from overseas experience in building the resilience by protecting the critical infrastructures with the participation and involvement of the public sector and the commercial sector. UK's Cabinet Office Gold Standard Adviser, Mr Charles Le Gallais, delivered the seminar, attracting about 180 officers and staff, including 43 participants from other departments with the coordination by the Security Bureau. During the seminar Mr Le Gallais shared his experience of operation of the Gold Standard; the changing security environment and its challenges; protection of the critical infrastructures, and the concept of strategic leadership. The workshop drew some 20 officers at the ranks of Senior Superintendent to Assistant Commissioner. They exchanged with Mr Le Gallais their experiences of using the multi-agency approach in Hong Kong to tackle major incidents. More MDP seminars with "Computer Ethics" and "Human Rights" as topics will be held on May 11 and June 24 respectively.
