CCB runs integrity management seminar |

Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) held a seminar on integrity management for 50 officers on February 25, which featured "Determining What is Ethical" as the main topic. At the seminar, three professors from the Faculty of Cultural Studies of the Lingnan University, Dr Li Siu-leung, Dr Leung Yuk-ming and Dr Hui Po-keung, shared their views on integrity management. Dr Li introduced two approaches, i.e. value-based and compliance-based, for managing integrity. He also showed movie footages of police-related stories to stimulate the audience's thinking of "what is ethical" by analysing the response of different actors to different beat incidents related to ethical issues that required them to determine whether discretion should be exercised. Dr Leung then demonstrated how the media portrayed the image of the police and how they affected public's perception of the integrity of the police. Rounding up the seminar, Dr Hui emphasised the importance of conducting public opinion polls to gauge public perception and expectation of police integrity. The participants considered the seminar creative and stimulating, giving them different perspectives of "what is ethical" and how the public and the media perceived police integrity. They also considered the seminar useful for executing action plans to support the Force's Integrity Management Strategy.
