Kowloon West Regional Commander (KW RC) Tang How-kong (now Director of Management Services) presented Police Long Service Medals and Clasps, Meritorious Service Certificates, Commanding Officer's Commendations and retirement souvenirs to over 120 police officers and civilian staff at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on February 18.

Mr Tang praised the recipients for their dedication and commitment to maintaining law and order and serving the community over the years. He also commended them for making a concerted effort to maintain security and stability in KW when he was RC in the past two years.

Mr Tang said he was pleased to have served the bustling KW Region, and garnered considerable valuable and memorable experiences during his tenure.

Towards the end of the presentation ceremony, KW formation commanders sprang a surprise for Mr Tang when representatives from various units and grades presented him a bouquet and a souvenir. The souvenir is a replica of a clay-sculptured vase with 90 years of history, which is on display in the lobby of the KW Regional Headquarters. With this collector's item, KW officers bade farewell and wished Mr Tang all the best in his new job.

Then, together with the formation commanders, Mr Tang performed a cake-cutting ceremony to signify the unity of KW Region and its effort to live up to his motto for KW officers, written on the cake: "Save the dying and the wounded; uphold justice; root out the daring and protect the weak, and warn the wicked and punish the evil."

Finally, Mr Tang called on officers to adhere to the vision and values of the Force, and to work hard to maintain Hong Kong as one of the safest and most stable cities in the world.

Unified determination to uphold Mr Tang's motto for Kowloon West officers
