A local resident has written to Commissioner Tang King-shing to praise the Force for locating a two-year-old toddler hours after she was reported missing from a sitting-out area in Sham Shui Po by her grandfather on April 27.

The resident pointed out that she felt safer in Hong Kong than in other major cities, and this is why she has chosen to stay in Hong Kong. Her letter reads:

Honourable Mr Tang,

I would like to highly praise the police force for its operation to find the missing two-year-old baby girl.

From my experience, I find that the Hong Kong Police Force compares favourably with other police forces in the world. I feel safer in Hong Kong than in other major cities. This is one of the major factors why I choose to return and stay in Hong Kong.

Of course, every organisation has its weakness. However, I think the general public is too hard to please and is quick to criticise and reluctant to acknowledge the Police Force's achievements.

Hence, I would like to say: "Keep up the good work!" Thank you for making me feel well protected and congratulations on a job well done!

Ms Cheung
