Last year, Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) enhanced JPC training on a comprehensive scale, including the modules on Police knowledge, leadership and management skills, and personal development. PPRB also launched the first wave of JPC volunteer recruitment in July 2009, and later allocated 159 newly recruited volunteers to districts to assist with promotion of JPC activities.

In view of the good response to the recruitment, JPC Headquarters launched the second wave and arranged in March this year three volunteer training courses run by the Agency for Volunteer Service. Amongst the 206 volunteers who completed the courses were 182 serving police officers and two retired police officers. All of them have learned the roles, responsibilities, attitude and leadership skills of a volunteer.

At ceremonies held on April 27 and May 5, PPRB Superintendent Joseph Tung presented certificates of appointment to the newly recruited JPC volunteers. The volunteers also took the opportunity to meet with JPC staff from districts and exchange views on organisation and promotion of JPC activities. With the assistance of the volunteers, the districts will be in a better position to organise and promote JPC training and activities.

The newly recruited volunteers are looking forward to promoting JPC activities
