Living-the-Values video
captures international award

"Fatherˇ¦s Diary", the champion video of the Living-the-Values video-clip competition, has captured an international award - Gold Award of the Questar Awards under the category of Corporate Internal Communications. Produced by the New Territories North Quick Reaction Force(NTNQRF), the video outdid 100 entries from 10 countries, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, the UK, and USA.

The video-clip competition was held earlier to support the theme of Wave VII of the Living-the-Values Workshop, "Professionalism in the Changing World". The award for the champion video is an internationally recognised symbol of excellence in communications. So apart from projecting the Force's positive image in the international arena, the award underscores the Forceˇ¦s efforts and success in promoting internal communication through Living-the-Values Wave VII with staff engagement and empowerment.

The video tells of a young Police Constable (PC) getting upset after being scolded by a member of the public. The PC later came to learn from the diary of his father - also a Police Officer - that the latter, in his over 30 yearsˇ¦ service, had come to realise that Police Officers have to set their own values. From that moment onwards, the PC took his father as a role model, and faced the challenges of his job with the notion of "Being strict with myself and tolerant of others".

Build up trust

Members of the production team of the champion video see their award as a big honour. And they are pleased that their video had brought the spirit of professionalism to the audiences in different countries.

PC Yip Chun-chung told OffBeat: "Within the Force, the relationship similar to the one between the leading actor and his father in the video might also exist between superiors and subordinates, and among officers. We hope the video would encourage officers to build up mutual trust and fully display their professionalism under the tremendous stress of their jobs."

The team members also hope that when the video is used at the Wave VII Workshop, officers would appreciate their commitments and efforts in producing the video.
