A visitor from Sydney, Australia, has written to the Force to commend the Airport District and in particular Police Constable 2008 Chan Hon-sang for recovering the luggage she left in a taxi at the Hong Kong International Airport on June 29.

The visitor said she was particularly impressed by officers' "extraordinary commitment to excellence in customer service and support that broke the language barrier, giving us a great sense of safety and justice". Her letter reads:

Upon my family's departure from an amazing holiday in Hong Kong, a piece of my luggage was left in a taxi at the international airport. It was only because of the dedication and clever strategies used by your Police Officers that my bag was successfully returned to me within a short period of time. As such, my family was able to board our flight home to Sydney with all our belongings.

The level of action that Police Constable 2008 extended to my family was far beyond our expectations. I was so impressed by the support and quick thinking provided by PC 2008 and his colleagues that I felt compelled to go on record with my praise. These men truly deserve it and, in my opinion, they are a true attribute to the Hong Kong community.

Police Constable 2008 and his colleagues should be held up as an example for others to emulate. The Hong Kong Police Force is one of the best trained, most highly motivated and dedicated police forces I have seen.

What particularly impressed me about the level of service provided by your Police Officers was their extraordinary commitment to excellence in customer service and support that broke the language barrier, giving us a great sense of safety and justice.

In closing, I believe that Station Sergeant 51911 Chung Kin-hung, Police Constable 2008 and his fellow officers truly deserve to be congratulated and rewarded for their prompt actions and dedication well beyond the expectations of my family. Thank you for your assistance in this potentially devastating situation.

R. Bonello
