Tripartite CID Heads Meeting reinforces partnership

The Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department hosted the 16th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Tripartite Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Heads Meeting in Zhaoqing on July 8 and 9 when the CID Heads of the three jurisdictions discussed and worked out ways to combat cross-boundary crimes.

Headed by Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tsang Wai-hung, the Force delegation comprised Assistant Commissioner (Crime) To Chun-wai and Bureau Heads of Crime Wing.

Ms Luo Juan, Permanent Deputy Director-General of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, headed the Guangdong delegation, whilst Mr Jose Proenca Branco, Commissioner General of the Unitary Police Service, led the Macau delegation. Also present were Mr Zhao Qiming, Deputy Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security, and Mr Cheng Liyuan, Division Chief of the Police Liaison Department under the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR.

During the meeting, the CID Heads agreed to reinforce the strategic partnership in fighting cross-boundary crimes and pledged for closer co-operation at strategic and working levels. As the 16th Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou from November 12 to 27, the three parties also assented to strengthen intelligence exchange, conduct joint operations, and organise liaison visits to share experience and technical skills of policing international events in order to provide a safe and orderly environment for the Games.
