Police Magazine Mascot Design Competition a big success |
|||
Over the past 37 years since 1973, the Police Magazine has been advising TV audience on the latest crime trend and crime prevention tips, as well as promoting co-operation between the public and Police in fighting crime. Through the TV programme, the public would be able to understand better the work of different police units and their latest developments. To promote the Police Magazine and to disseminate crime prevention messages, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) held a "Mascot Design Competition" between March and May this year. Divided into Open and Student Groups, the competition drew an enthusiastic response from the public in the form of over 1,700 entries. The mascots received are of a very high standard of creative design, and it took the panel of judges a long time to pick the ten winners, who were presented with prizes and certificates. To mark the success of the competition, PPRB and RTHK jointly held an Award Presentation Ceremony on July 20 at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui, with Director of Operations Hung Hak-wai, Acting Assistant Director of Broadcasting (TV), Mr Sze Wing-yuen; Principal Judge, Dr Kan Tai-keung; and popular artist, Ms Joey Yung, as officiating guests. Police Magazine Mascot, "Kingson", joined students in presenting an anti-drug drama, attracting a lot of public attention and wide media coverage. The winning mascot design will be used for promoting the Police Magazine. The top 50 mascot designs of each group have been uploaded to Police Public Page at www.police.gov.hk/policemagazine for public appreciation. The Police Magazine is broadcast between 7pm and 7:30pm every Saturday on TVB Jade channel.
