The new College Advisors are Mr Chung Koon-ying, former Force Training Officer who is known for his work on quality assurance; Prof Lui Tai-lok, a renowned academic teaching at the Department of Sociology at the University of Hong Kong; and Dr Wan Chun-cheong, Director of Industry Liaison at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Welcoming the College Advisors, Mr Tang praised them for their contributions to the Force. "We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the Advisors' expertise, which has contributed to the accomplishments of a number of Force-wide training and development initiatives. These initiatives have benefited not only police officers but also the future leaders of Hong Kong and the Mainland," he noted. The training and development initiatives to which the Honorary College Advisors have made major contributions include Symposium on Police Studies of the Strait cum Hong Kong & Macau; adjudication of Force Research Award Scheme (FRAS) submissions; Police Oriented Tactical Emergency Medical (POTEM) Courses; and various seminars and talks for police recruits and management officers as well as for Administrative Officers of the Government and Mainland Public Security Officers. Police College Director Kevin Woods also noted: "Through the luncheon, the Force can express gratitude for the Advisors' support and dedication. This occasion is also a great opportunity for the Advisors and the senior management teams of the Force and the College to exchange ideas on developing the College into a Centre of Excellence in Police Training and Development." The Honorary College Advisors and Associates Scheme began in 2006 when the Police College was established. Now there are a total of 17 Advisors and five Associates.
