In mid last month, Commissioner Tang King-shing and the Netherlands Police Agency (KLPD) Chief Constable, Mr Ruud Bik, renewed the Letter of Intent (LOI) for exchanging intelligence and good practices. The LOI was first singed between the Force and KLPD in 2007.

To enhance communication between the two agencies, the Consul General of the Netherlands in Hong Kong, Mr Robert Schuddeboom, hosted a reception for the Force at his residence on July 27.

The LOI sets out three directions in advancing co-operation between the Force and KLPD:

* to share experience and best practices in areas of common interests, including use of technology in specialised operations, trafficking in and smuggling of human beings, drug trafficking and other transnational crime;
* to further enhance communication and relations to combat the aforesaid crimes; and
* to share information upon request, provided that the request is in compliance with the laws and policies of both parties.

Both the Force and the Dutch Police are fully committed to international co-operation in fighting transnational crimes, and the LOI would further strengthen the professional collaboration in this aspect.

The renewed Letter of Intent marks a new milestone of the co-operation between the Force and the Dutch Police
