The Road Safety Council (RSC) Annual Report 2008 has won a Silver Award in educational website classification of the Astrid Awards. As there is no Gold Award for 2010, the Silver Award is the highest one presented. The Astrid Awards 2010 have received 500 entries from around the world, including Austria, Canada, China, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Korea, Luxembourg, Malta, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and the USA. The award, now in its 20th year, invited design professionals to form international panels, which awarded high scores to the graphic design of RSC's Annual Report 2008 for its creativity, clarity and production quality, reflecting the very high standard of teamwork and professionalism of the Working Group for the annual report. Founded in 1983 and chaired by Deputy Commissioner (Operations), RSC is an advisory body consisting of government officials and members of various professions. It is committed to reducing the number and severity of traffic accidents through education, publicity and road engineering. Last year, a downward trend in the number of fatalities was recorded, which was the lowest since 1958. RSC will continue to work closely with all partners to pursue the vision "Zero Accident on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal".
