'Senior Corps' formed for road safety |

There are many senior citizens living in Sham Shui Po and they are more vulnerable to street scam, telephone deception and other quick-cash crimes, as well as to the busy traffic in the district. In view of this, Sham Shui Po District (SSPODIST), with the support of the SSPO District Fight Crime Committee and the Road Safety Campaign Committee, launched a project, "Sham Shui Po Senior Corps", on July 21 to recruit elderly people for promoting crime prevention and road safety to their peers. Training programmes for the Corps members include talks and visits to police stations, Police Museum, Road Safety Town and other government departments. After training, they will help run publicity and education activities to make the elderly more aware of crime prevention and road safety. At the launching ceremony of the project at a community hall, over 100 Corps members from five elderly centres received basic training by the Kowloon West Road Safety Team and the Regional Crime Prevention Office as well as Certificates of Appointment from SSPODIST Acting Commander David Grant.
