After a break of many years, a long-standing event of the Police College - The Sports Afternoon - made a comeback on the college's Wong Chuk Hang campus on July 8. The sporting event saw about 600 recruit trainees battle it out in games designed to foster esprit de corps, communication and rapport, including tug-of-war, rowing, football, tennis and a 550-m relay run.

Organised by the Foundation Training Centre, the event came to a climax when the winning team from Recruit Police Constable Intake 4/09 "V" Squad received their prizes from Senior Superintendent (FTC) Cheung Kam-chuen and Superintendent (SUP FTC) Bradley Wright.
