Force to host 1st INTERPOL |

|
Entitled "Global Co-operation Today for InfoSec Risks Tomorrow", the 1st INTERPOL Information Security Conference co-hosted by the Force will be held between September 15 and 17 at Police Headquarters. During this two-and-a-half days event, up to 250 local and overseas law enforcement representatives, scholars and industry leaders will join hands to address information security issues in an international context with emphasis on relevant preventive measures and incident responses.

| The
conference will be inaugurated by Commissioner Tang King-shing and
INTERPOL's Secretary General, Mr Ronald Noble, and conference speakers
will include Senior Assistant Commissioner Ma Wai-luk. Senior Assistant
Commissioners Tang Kam-moon and Tang How-kong will conduct panel
discussions and adoption of recommendations. The conference will
conclude with a closing speech by Deputy Commissioner (Operations)
Tsang Wai-hung. Besides providing a platform for discussing issues concerning information security, the Force will also seize this opportunity to promote its positive image and Hong Kong as Asia's World City. As a dedicated member of INTERPOL under the National Central Bureau, China (NCB China), the Force has over the years been committed to fostering strong international co-operation by actively participating in the work of INTERPOL in a number of areas. These include regular hosting of INTERPOL conferences and seminars such as the 15th Symposium for Heads of Police Training in 2005, the 20th INTERPOL Asian Regional Conference in 2008 as well as Asia Regional training. For the conference, an Organising Committee, chaired by Assistant Commissioner (Crime), seven Preparatory Sub-committees and a full-time Conference Secretariat have been formed. Through organising the 1st INTERPOL Information Security Conference, the Force demonstrates its commitment to enhancing international co-operation in the fight against transnational crime, whilst improving service quality at the same time.
