PC Leung Ting-lun laid to rest
with full Police honours

Police Constable (PC) Leung Ting-lun, who was fatally injured on duty in a traffic accident in the New Territories, was laid to rest at Gallant Garden, Wo Hop Shek, on September 17, following a funeral service with full Police honours at the Universal Funeral Parlour, Hung Hom.

PC Leung's coffin was draped with the HKSAR Flag

Officers from New Territories North Region, Kowloon West Region, Personnel Wing, Support Wing, Police College and Operations Wing escorted the cortege to Gallant Garden, where a bugler from the Police Band sounded the "Last Post" as PC Leung's coffin was lowered into the grave.

When PC Leung's family held a vigil at the funeral parlour in the evening before his funeral service, the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, accompanied by Commissioner Tang King-shing, went to the funeral parlour to pay his last respects to PC Leung.

Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, and Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, also attended the vigil.

Among those paying their last respects to PC Leung on the day of the funeral service were Chief Executive's Aide-de-Camp, Acting Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, Legislative Council Member, Mr James To, senior officers from government policy bureaux, departments and other disciplined services, CP, Senior Directorate Group Officers and representatives from Major Formations, Regions, Districts and Force staff associations.

Eulogy

Delivering the eulogy, PC Chan Chi-ho of Tin Shui Wai Division Task Force Sub-unit reminisced about the fun he had with PC Leung during their numerous angling trips. The following is part of the eulogy.

"We share a passion for angling, and during the past eight years, we have had hundreds of angling trips far and near. He was a good angler and had a dream for his hobby. At the end of a trip, he would clean up the place and let go the smaller fishes.

"He like angling but fish wasn't his cup of tea. I find this a bit odd. Ting-lun sometimes brought along his father or father-in-law on his angling trips. He was really a good son.

"After his wife had given birth to their son, Ting-lun became more resolute in his approach to angling. He would not return home empty-handed and always managed to bring back some fish for his family. He was a good father and always spoke of his son while angling.

"Ting-lun also liked photography, Gold Fish and basketball. What we've shared with him are only some of the highlights of his life. Being a candid person and having a sense of humour and a good temper, he had made many friends, and was well liked by those who know him. We'll for ever remember his name, his smile and the things he had done as a police officer, a colleague and a friend."
