Dear Commissioner,

I am writing to express our sincere appreciation for the leadership and hard work of the Hong Kong Police Force during the search for Mr Stephen Morrissey, the Air New Zealand pilot who went missing while hiking in the Pak Sin Leng Country Park two weeks ago.

We are extremely grateful for the tireless effort and commitment by the hundreds of police, fire service, rescue and volunteer teams who assisted in the search for Mr Morrissey, which led to the discovery of his body. Please pass on our thanks to all those involved.

We would especially like to thank the Tai Po Police Station (DVC Ricky Ho, ADVC Maggie Sze, PSUC Chris Lau and their team) for the outstanding job they did in planning and co-ordinating the joint search and rescue operations, for liaising with Air New Zealand and family members and for providing regular updates to our office throughout the operation (especially during the weekend), which we very much appreciated.

Thank you again for the tireless effort and support by the Hong Kong Police Force in searching for and locating Mr Morrissey’s body.

Adele Bryant
New Zealand Consul-General
