After years of planning and work, construction of the new Central District Headquarters complex, situating at No. 2 Chung Kong Road, Sheung Wan, has been completed. On September 9, Commissioner Tang King-shing officiated at the opening ceremony of the new complex in front of many community leaders and local dignitaries.

The new complex uses dark grey and silver white as the theme colours. Apart from basic office facilities, this seven-storey complex houses different facilities, including lecture and training rooms, video interview rooms, a district operations room, a resources centre and a fitness room.

In line with environment-friendly policy, the complex has a green rooftop with plenty of plants. Glass window wall has been adopted in the building design to enhance natural light inside the building, where energy-saving lighting system and computerised central air-conditioning system have also been installed to save energy by automatically adjusting lighting and room temperature.

By July this year, all Central District officers had moved from Arsenal Street to the new complex, when Central District completed its amalgamation and was restructured into a "Single Division District". Upon the full amalgamation, the command and operations structures of Central District have been refined and divided on a functional basis.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tang called on the community to continue to support the police. He also encouraged Central District officers to uphold the spirit of "We Serve with Pride and Care", whilst working in a new and nice environment.

After the ceremony, the guests toured the new complex and its facilities, and found the building design impressive.
