Supporting the strategic direction of "engaging the community" through the Police Mentorship Programme's Job Attachment Scheme, Tseung Kwan O (TKO) Division recruited four university undergraduates to help out with implementation of Kwun Tong District's "Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) Project" and the "One-Flat-One-Alarm Scheme" during the summer holidays.

Under the NEC project, Mak Chiu-ping, a Year 2 student of the University of Hong Kong, and Chau Man-yi, a Year 2 undergraduate of the City University of Hong Kong, visited the NEC community in Kwun Tong to conduct a research with a questionnaire on their culture, customs and basic living needs. They also helped the police provide support and services to help the NEC cope with daily problems and integrate into society.

Under the "One-Flat-One-Alarm Scheme", Ngai Pui-shan, a Year 3 undergraduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Wong Ho-yi, a Year 2 undergraduate of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University, helped officers raise, through promotion and education, rural residents' awareness of prevention of burglary, and collect information to prevent crime.

The eight-week job attachment has provided the four Summer Interns with a great experience, and would stand them in good stead for their personal developments.

For the four Summer Interns, their eight-week attachment to Tseung Kwan O Division is an unforgettable experience
