Police College has
spelt out strategic goals in its Training and Development Plan
2009-2011 to achieve the Commissioner’s Operational Priorities and
Strategic Directions. Among the goals, use of modern learning methods
and technology has been highlighted as the way forward for training
development. To this end, Police College has developed the Force
e-Learning Portal as a leading tool to provide a ready-to-use
e-resources platform on POINT for all Force members. This year, Police College has organised, as one of the avenues to promote e-Learning, a Force Computer Graphic Design Competition for Force members to share their computer graphics and PowerPoint templates, which can be widely used in training and presentation. The competition came to a successful conclusion with an award presentation ceremony held in the Multi-purpose Hall at Police Headquarters on October 25. Speaking at the ceremony, Police College Director Kevin Woods said: "We have received more than 100 entries to each of the PowerPoint and Clip Art categories. Among them, our adjudicators have carefully selected 30 pieces of work, which are all of the highest quality. Worthy of our attention is the fact that the winners come from different posts, including Emergency Unit, divisional frontline units and Police Headquarters formations, and a majority of the winners are Junior Police Officers." The winning entries will be uploaded onto the e-Learning Portal with names of the designers shown. The graphics and PowerPoint templates will be shared by all Force members and be used for official purposes. The winners will also be invited to join the e-Learning Interest Group to continue contributing to the development of e-Learning within the Force.
