'One Vessel One IG Officer' - Marine's concept |

Marine Region has adopted the concept of "One Vessel One Intelligence Gathering (IG) Officer" in a bid to encourage its frontline officers to participate in IG, line with Force Strategic Direction 3. The concept has been devised to: * raise the awareness of frontline UB officers of the importance of IG; * encourage and assist the frontline officers to gather and report criminal intelligence; and * provide a platform for exchange of criminal intelligence between Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) and frontline UB officers in Marine Region. In support of the concept, PSUs and IPSUs have nominated officers for appointment of IG officer for a vessel or unit. In addition to his daily duties, an IG officer is also responsible for gathering intelligence and promotion of IG on his vessel or in his unit, and will serve as the IG liaison channel between RIU and the vessel or unit. On January 20, Crime Marine arranged a workshop for 61 designated IG officers, with training provided by Criminal Intelligence Bureau officers specialised in IG. The training covered submission of IRFs, Informer Handling and general IG concepts. After the training session, Marine Deputy Regional Commander Chung Hung-fung presented a certificate to each IG officer. The
IG officers have received useful training for their additional duty |
