The winner and runners-up of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force's (HKAPF) Annual Continuation Training (ACT) T-shirt (District Logo) Design Competition were presented with trophies on February 28. The competition marked HKAPF's first participation in the Police Staff Motivation Scheme (PSMS) since it was established in 1996.

The winner is Mongkok District (AUX), followed by Kowloon City District (AUX) and Kwai Tsing District (AUX) as first and second runners-up respectively. They were selected by an adjudication panel comprising HKAPF Commandant Yiu Yeung-lung and three Senior Superintendents AUX on the criteria of representation of the HKAPF, creativity and originality, overall view, usability and scale. Members of the panel were impressed with the standard of the entries.

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Mr Yiu said: "All of us are very glad that the competition has come to a successful conclusion. Approval of the competition under the PSMS clearly underscored the importance of the ACT undertaken by each HKAPF member. The approval was the outcome of the outstanding teamwork of the project. We are also very grateful for the full support of the Auxiliary Support Bureau, particularly SSP AUX Henry Ho and SP AUX Patrick Sin, who gave a lot of constructive advice on the competition."

SSP Ho said Annual Continuation Training is the major training conducted by AUX SUP Bureau for HKAPF members at the ranks of SP and below. "To promote cohesiveness and sense of belonging among the Districts AUX, my deputy, SP Sin, came up with the idea of the competition for consideration by senior HKAPF officers," he added.

Acting Inspector Edwin Wong of Mongkok District (AUX) is pleased that his design won the competition. Being a lecturer teaching design in the Vocational Training Centre, Edwin said: "I am glad that I have contributed to the competition what I have learned and done in my principal employment. What has given me a challenge was figuring out something that can represent the HKAPF and Mongkok District. The eventual design was the outcome of sharing of ideas by members of the district."

In conclusion, the HKAPF Commandant said: "The competition has really achieved the objective of bringing HKAPF members closer together. Now we have these 19 district logos being framed for adorning the lobby of the HKAPF Headquarters, reminding all visitors and our own members of this achievement."
