The Junior Police Call (JPC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2010 was held at Police Headquarters on February 26, with over 300 JPC Central Advisory Board members, JPC Honorary Presidents, Police Community Relations Office staff and JPC members in attendance.

At the meeting, Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Li Kin-fai reported on JPC’s developments and major projects in the past year and introduced the various projects for this year. He said JPC kept abreast of times and carried out a series of training, the majority of which aliened with the “Other Learning Experiences” in the new Senior Secondary Curriculum. In the coming year, JPC would enhance its computerised membership system and consider turning the old High Island Police Post into a centre for various activities and training in a bid to guide JPC members to continue participating in fight crime publicity, environmental protection and community services.

Mr Li also took the opportunity to extend special thanks to JPC Honorary Presidents for their big support for JPC, which, he noted, had made a great contribution to the increasingly robust JPC developments in districts. At the meeting many Honorary Presidents expressed their views on JPC developments.

Annual Lunch

Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, and Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung attended the Annual Lunch that followed the AGM. Mr Lee presented a 20-year service certificate to five Honorary Presidents for supporting JPC activities and development.

In his speech, Mr Lee said that since JPC was established 36 years ago, membership had exceeded 180 000, including 1 100 Non-ethnic Chinese members, indicating that JPC had taken root in the community and secured support by various sectors.

JPC activities and exchange projects, such as Hongkong Bank JPC Scheme Award 2010, JPC Fight Crime Summer Camp, Hang Seng Bank - Help Police Fight Youth Crime Competition and Beijing and Shanghai National Education Tour, had facilitated JPC members’ comprehensive developments and broadened their horizons of the motherland.

To encourage JPC Leaders to continue taking part in JPC projects, CP presented Outstanding Awards to 16 Advanced Leaders who have completed four training modules.

Meanwhile, 25 environmental protection instructors were presented with a Certificate of Appointment for their mission of offering environmental protection knowledge to JPC members.
