Blessed with fine weather, some 500 officers from Kowloon East (KE) Region tried their best to vie for various trophies on their Regional Sports Day held at Police Sports and Recreation Club on February 22. Besides bringing a welcome break for officers' heavy workload, the annual sports meet helped carry through the "one-officer-one-sport" concept under the Physical Fitness and Health Management.

Acting KE Regional Commander Brian Hancock not only cheered on his athletes on the field but also thanked at lunch members of the Regional Sports Day Organising Committee for laying on a very successful programme.

The sports officers took part in were football, badminton, table tennis, squash, tennis, bowling, lawn bowling and fun sports game, though none of them was more keenly contested than the tug-of-war, the title of which eventually went to Traffic KE. The cheering teams impressed the spectators with their colourful dress and performance in the Cheering Team Competition.

After hard-fought battles, Kwun Tong District and Airport District clinched the Major Unit Trophy and Minor Unit Trophy respectively.

The organising committee deserves full mark for the winners' exhilaration, the spectators' cheering and the smile on every face.
