Commissioner pays first visit to Beijing

 



Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung left for Beijing on March 23 to pay a courtesy call, the first visit after taking up his post in January.

Accompanying Mr Tsang on the visit were Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang Kam-moon, Director of Personnel and Training Ma Wai-luk and Director of Crime and Security Lo Wai-chung.

The Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Public Security, Mr Meng Jianzhu, and the Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Wang Guangya. During his visit, Mr Tsang also had a meeting with the Vice Minister of Public Security, Mr Chen Zhimin, on bilateral co-operation.

At the meeting, both sides pledged to tackle cross-boundary crimes, including drugs trafficking, triad activities, organised crime, Internet and telephone scams, and to trace the proceeds from drugs trafficking and other crimes.

Both sides agreed to bolster co-operation in countering terrorism, especially in exchanging intelligence and risk assessment of terrorist attacks.

Regarding the Universiade 2011 to be held in Shenzhen this August, the Force will fully co-operate with its Mainland counterpart. On border management, both sides will step up joint operations and exercises to enhance officers' capabilities of border management.
