Arranged by Police College, Chief Inspector (CIP) Lam Hung-chuen, together with Senior Inspectors Wong Yu-hang and Mok Wai-shing, led a delegation of two Sergeants and six Constables from various formations to visit the Royal New Zealand Police College in Wellington from February 14 to 23.

During the trip, the New Zealand Police shared with the officers a variety of policing topics, including intelligence-led policing, file management, community policing, dealing with ethnic minorities, and integrity management. The officers were also invited to visit the Police National Headquarters, Marine Base, Police Station of Lower Hutt and Kapiti Coast, Traffic Unit and Police Dog School. Throughout their stay, the officers had a good opportunity to learn policing in New Zealand and share experiences.

Finding the visit very rewarding, CIP Lam said: "Delegation members not only broadened their horizons but also built up friendship with many members of the New Zealand Police. This would further enhance the reputation of the Hong Kong Police Force and strengthen co-operation with our overseas counterparts."

At the end of the visit, the delegation was shocked by the earthquake in Christchurch that caused heavy casualties. Back in Hong Kong, the delegation members are confident that the New Zealand Police are capable of dealing with the emergency and reconstruction works, and wish the injured a speedy recovery and a quick return to normal life.
