At the invitation of the Police College, Dr Stephen Maguire, Adjunct Research Professor, Founder and Coordinator of the Certificate Programme in Organisational Values and Ethics, Department of Philosophy of Carleton University, Canada, spoke on "Enhancing Community Trust through Professionalism in Policing" at a Management Development Programme seminar at Police Headquarters on April 12. Dr Maguire analysed the importance of police professionalism in gaining community trust, referring to his research over the past years with the public and private sectors. His talk was insightful and thought provoking, particularly with regard to the Force's continuous commitment to seek greater engagement of the community. Attracting over 100 officers and civilian staff, the seminar was well received. The question-and-answer session saw an interactive and open exchange of views after which the audience gave Dr Maguire a big applaud for his presentation. The voice recording of the seminar is available at the Learning Portal in Knowledge Management on POINT. ![]() |
