Four records set in Athletics Championships |

The Police Athletics Championships 2011 was held at the Wan Chai Sports Ground on April 15, with over 300 officers from various formations taking part in more than 40 events. Four new records were set by officers, including Police Constable (PC) Tang Chun-yip finishing 400m in 54.22 sec; PC Lai Hok-yan completing 1 500m (Seniors) in 4 min 33 sec; and Woman Inspector Chan Sin-hang clocking 1 min 4 sec in 400m. In the field event, PC Lam Shing-lun threw a discus (1.5kg) for 36.7 m. PC Tang also won the Victor Ludorum with 22 points whereas WPC Pang Kwai-lai captured the Victrix Ludorum with 25 points. New Territories South clinched the 4 X 200 Major Formation Challenge at 1 min 53 sec. Police College beat all specialist/training units for the first time and took the championship at 171 points. PAC Chairman, Mr Lam Man-wing, has expressed special thanks to all senior officers for supporting the championships, including Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung, who presented medals and trophies to the winners. Mr Lam also thanked all the volunteer helpers for the event, including Police Referees Club, Auxiliary Medical Services, Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association, Wan Chai Sports Ground management and others who had contributed to the success of the championships. The next PAC event will be the Henry Shield Relay Race 2011 and registration will begin in August. |
