A badminton team comprising 22 members of the UK Adjutant General's Corps visited Hong Kong last month and took part in a friendly match with the Police Badminton Club at the Police Officers' Club on April 16.

The four-hour match was very competitive and ended with the police team winning by a small margin. "No doubt both teams show a consistently high standard and the players are breathing down their necks. The skill displayed by the UK players has truly impressed us," said Chief Superintendent Chau Cho-kei, Chairman of the Police Badminton Club.

Some members of the UK Corps have been to Hong Kong before and their tour manager, Mr Gary Wills, was in fact based in Stanley Fort in 1992. "We sincerely thank the Police Badminton Club for organising this meaningful friendly match. All our members enjoyed the game very much and treasured the friendship with the Hong Kong Police Force," he said.

Another team member, Mr Kenneth Li, a Hong Kong migrant, said: "We are looking forward to the next game with the Police Badminton Club when we visit Hong Kong again."

After the game, Police Badminton Club hosted a tea reception for the visiting guests during which friendship was further strengthened.

Both parties also renew friendship at the badminton courts
