Organisations in Central District recently rallied behind Central Police District officers by hosting a special ceremony to commend them for their contributions in combatting crime, maintaining law and order and promoting social harmony.

Among the 100 guests from 20 local organisations were Chairman of the Central & Western District Council, Mr Chan Tak-chor; Vice-chairman of the council, Mr Chan Chit-kwai; Chairman of the Central & Western District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Lam Chek-yau; and Chairman of the Central & Western District Road Safety Campaign Committee, Mr Yip Chun-nam.

A total of 126 officers in Central District (CDIST) received recognition.

Thanking the local organisations for their recognition and appreciation, CDIST Commander Kwok Yam-shu emphasised that the co-operation between the Force and local residents should not be limited to maintaining law and order only, but also be extended to promoting social harmony. Everybody had to uphold the spirit of living in harmony with tolerance of different views and opinions. He pledged to continue reinforcing liaison and communication with the local organisations and listening to the views of the different sectors in the local community.

Noting that the key to fostering social harmony is having a professional police force and a secure environment, Mr Chan Tak-chor, on behalf of all the local organisations, thanked officers for their constant efforts to make Central District a good place to live and work. He also praised the officers for displaying impartiality and professionalism in handling many events of different natures in the past year.
