Arranged by Police College, a delegation, led by Woman Chief Inspector Janet So Man-kuen and comprising two Senior Inspectors, two Sergeants and six Police Constables, paid a study visit to the German Police between August 22 and 30.

With visit programme laid on by the German Federal Criminal Police Office (GFCPO), also known as Bundeskriminalamt (BKA), the delegation visited three different police organisations in four cities in Germany, including the Headquarters and offices of GFCPO in Berlin and Wiesbaden, the German Federal Police Headquarters in Potsdam and the Western Regional Office of Rheinlandpfalz State Police in Kaiserlautern.

In Berlin, Deputy Commissioner Michael Niemeier, Head of International Co-operation Division of GFCPO, gave the delegation an in-depth introduction of the GFCPO and had a thorough discussion on international matters and co-operation. The delegation also met GFCPO officials to discuss various topics of enhancement of global and regional co-operation.

In Potsdam, the German Federal Police briefed the delegation on its structure and functions as well as responsibilities to ensure border and rail network security.

The State Police in Kaiserlautern shared with the delegation policing of a large-scale public order event in Germany. The delegation also took the opportunity to introduce the HKSAR and the Force to State Police officers.

The visit was not only an eye-opener for delegation members, but also an invaluable opportunity to broaden their horizons in international co-operation. It also has reinforced the co-operation and understanding between the Force and the German Police.
