Eastern District Road Safety Carnival

With the support of the Eastern District Council, Eastern District (EDIST) and the Traffic and Transport Committee of the council held the "Eastern District Road Safety Carnival 2011" in Victoria Park, Causeway Bay, on August 20.

Driving home the road safety message to the public at the opening ceremony were EDIST Commander Andrew Lovatt, Eastern District Officer, Mr Hui Ying-yeung; Chairperson of the Eastern District Council, Ms Ting Yuk-chee; Acting Senior Superintendent Traffic Chow Wai-tak, and two members of the Eastern District Road Safety Campaign Organising Committee, Dr Liu Kai-ming and Dr Lam Chi-kit.

Mr Lovatt also appointed famous movie and TV star, Ms Queenie Chu Wai-man, and over ten local personalities as the Eastern District Road Safety Ambassador and members of the Eastern District Road Safety Campaign Organising Committee respectively for promotion of road safety.

In support of the vision of "Zero Accidents on the Road - Hong Kong's Goal", the carnival succeeded in disseminating the road safety message to road users and pedestrians alike with games booths, a variety show, display of vintage cars, a Road Safety Bus and a "Road Safety Town" set up by Traffic Hong Kong Island on the spot.
