Seminar looks into influence of HK policing on Mainland

At the invitation of Police College, Dr Sonny Lo Shiu-hing, Head of Department of Social Sciences, Associate Dean (Research & Postgraduate Studies) of Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Hong Kong Institute of Education, spoke on "The influence of Hong Kong Policing on Mainland China" at a Management Development Programme seminar at Police Headquarters on September 26.

Dr Lo is an internationally renowned scholar in the politics on the Mainland and in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as in the cross-boundary crimes in these jurisdictions. He analysed the policing problems on the Mainland with reference to its political and legal environments, and illustrated the positive influence that the Force has had on the Mainland through the interaction over the years in knowledge transfer and policy transfer. The talk was informative, insightful and interesting, widening the scope of thinking, particularly that on the continuous co-operation between the Mainland and the Force.

The seminar attracted over 100 participants, including officers and civilian staff, who had an exchange of views with the speaker during the question-and-answer session. The voice recording of the seminar is available on the Learning Portal in Knowledge Management on POINT.
