Auxies pitch in to tackle late-night violence |

Wan Chai Auxiliary Police are pitching in for an "Anti Late-night Violence Operation" underway in the district by patrolling the bar area at night every Friday and Saturday, alongside their regular counterparts. The auxiliary officers' assistance, coupled with other initiatives launched by Wan Chai District under its "Anti Late-night Violence Strategy", has significantly reduced late-night violence in the bar area, with cases of late-night violence in the first nine months of this year dropping to 60 from 130 in 2010. Apart from taking part in the "Anti Late-night Violence Operation", Wan Chai Auxiliary Police also assisted in crowd management in many large-scale public events, such as New Year Eve Countdown, Lunar New Year Fireworks Display, Book Exhibition, Comic Exhibition, Food Exhibition and rally protests. In playing this important role, they showed a high degree of professionalism and devotion of duty. As a gesture of appreciation for the Auxiliary Police's contributions to maintenance of law and order in her district, Wan Chai District Commander Lam Man-sai presented letters of appreciation to Superintendent (Auxiliary) Lee Kin-man, (now SSP(A) AUX HKI); and Chief Inspector (Auxiliary) Yuen Chung-ming (now CIP(A) AUX CDIST) on September 16. ![]() |
