Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Mr William Eilliot, in Ottawa on October 17. The MOU further strengthens the co-ordination between Hong Kong and Canada in police training, setting out a framework for enhancing faculty exchange and training partnership.

Following the signing ceremony, both Commissioners had a discussion on policing issues of mutual concern.

After the RCMP visit, Mr Tsang left for Toronto in the afternoon, where he later gave a key note address at the International Pearl Fishers Action Learning Group (IALG) programme. The IALG aims at facilitating the strategic, professional and personal developments of selected senior officials of law enforcement organisations.

On October 28, Commissioner Eilliot, leading a three-member delegation, paid a reciprocal courtesy call on CP during a stopover in Hong Kong en-route to Hanoi, Vietnam, to attend the 80th INTERPOL General Assembly.
