It was another proud moment for the Force on October 14 when its Unified Digital Communications Platform (UDCP) captured the "Connected Government" Award at the annual FutureGov Summit & Award held in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

The award represents the recognition of the UDCP by panel judges as the best of the best in the innovative use of technology in modernisation of government policies and operations.

"I am so pleased that the vision of our Unified Digital Communications Platform has contributed to the good practices in modernisation of government policies and operations. This is what the award is intended for - recognising the visionary leadership and technical excellence in inter-agency and intra-agency work-flows for a common good," said Chief Telecommunications Engineer Jolly Wong.

The Force's Third Generation Command & Control Communications System has again raised the bar in public safety communications and successfully evolved to become a common radio platform. It truly exemplifies the long term vision of Next Generation Public Safety by extending the mission-critical TETRA network to integrate and connect various public services departments and agencies for interoperable communications and coordinated operations on a single unified platform, allowing optimisation of a strong inter-agencies communications network for private or shared use, as and when needed. At present, Auxiliary Medical Service, Department of Health, Security Bureau and Customs and Excise Department have joined the airwaves of the UDCP. Fire Services Department has voice patching arrangement to maintain dialogue with other agencies coming under UDCP.
