In a bid to make officers more aware of complaints prevention, the Force Committee on Complaints Prevention is launching a contest called "Smart Cops Challenge", which consists of an Online Quiz and a Live Quiz.

Online Quiz

Next month, all Force members, except those working in Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) at the time, can access the CAPO website on POINT for the Online Quiz. Participants will be asked 30 randomly selected questions in Chinese on police procedures, handling of complaints against police and the IPCC Ordinance in each attempt. If the participants give correct answers to 27 or more questions in any one attempt, they will be eligible for the draw of individual prizes. Each officer is eligible for one draw only and there will be 50 prizes in the form of a $50 gift coupon.

Live Quiz

The Live Quiz will be held in the auditorium at Police Headquarters in early March next year. Fifteen Formations will be selected to compete in the Live Quiz, with each formation fielding a team comprising three officers who have taken part in the Online Quiz.

Formations with the highest percentage of participants in the Online Quiz (versus a formation's establishment) and the highest percentage of participants eligible for the draw of prizes (versus a formation's participants) will have the chance of being selected for the Live Quiz.

Each member of the champion team as well as first and second runners-up will be awarded $500, $400 and $300 gift coupons respectively. Further details of the Live Quiz will be announced in due course.
