The Police Sailing Club is getting in more practice for the forthcoming "Police Worlds", to be sailed on J80 Sports Boats, which will be held in Hong Kong for the first time in October next year. Club Chairman, Mr Paul Stripp, and his team are committed to providing the best ever world championships, with expression of interest from 17 teams who will be battling it out to win. The teams are due to come from Europe, Asia and Australia. The competition will take place from October 22 to 27, 2012. Friday, November 4, 2011, saw beautiful blue skies at Port Shelter, Sai Kung, with high cloud and an unsteady breeze between five and 12 knots, anywhere between 132 degrees and 030 degrees on the compass. These conditions gave some of the best racing ever produced from the Police Sailing Club, as they moved into high gear for selecting the three teams that will represent the Force in the Police World Championships. They will need to be on the best of form as they will be up against top ranked teams from Australia, Switzerland, Britain, Germany, France, Norway, Slovenia, Croatia, Holland and Mainland China. Mr Stripp thanked all for a great day of close racing among the J80s, Bauhias and Picos, with an additional match race between two J80s. The top honours went to: J 80 Division - Francis Cheung, Lau Kai-leung, Lam Wai-kin and Chan Tak-fun; Bahia -Tsang Chi-choi and Tsang Chi-wai; and Pico - Chan Nga-shan. Further training to improve sailing and match racing skills is now underway to prepare for the "Police Worlds". ![]() |
