To provide sporting activities for NEC youths and to forge closer ties with them, Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) hosted an Inter-District Cricket Tournament, involving five police districts, at the cricket pitch of Police College on November 13.

NEC Junior Police Call (JPC) members from Yau Tsim, Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Tuen Mun and Wan Chai districts took part in seven-a-side matches. Despite hot humid weather, all the youngsters and spectators enjoyed the matches and cheered the Mong Kok JPCs for winning the trophy.

On hand to show their support for the event were District Commander Mong Kok Peter Cornthwaite, Deputy District Commander Yau Tsim Chung Sze-bong and Deputy District Commander Sham Shui Po David Grant, alongside NEC community leaders, including Mr Nanu Lachman, Honorary Advisor of JPC YTDIST and sponsor of the tournament, and Mr Batra from the Indian community.

YTDIST Police Community Relations Officers, Chief Inspector M. M. Khan, said that his district had been helping NEC youths to develop their favourite sports - cricket - since 2009. He disclosed that plans were in hand to pick players from JPC teams to form a JPC Cricket Team for junior league matches. "It is hoped this would offer a healthy lifestyle to NEC youths, as well as an opportunity for us to pass anti-crime messages to them," he said.
