Appreciation Corner

Dear Commissioner of Police,

I am writing to offer thanks and praises to two distinguished officers from the Western Division who helped me on the evening of December 14, 2011. I do not have their names but I know their ensign numbers are 34643 and 3811.

That evening while I was shopping in a supermarket in Kennedy Town, I suddenly realised my purse was gone and called the police for suspected theft. These two officers arrived at the scene shortly and began a meticulous investigation for me. While one was taking notes and trying to put together a report from my testimony, the other painstakingly backtracked my route and questioned the merchants along the way. Their process was highly professional. And what's more, since I was visibly shaken by the incident, the officers made an effort to appease me and assured they would contact me as soon as they get any information on my lost purse. From speaking to them, I think they understand very well how important this purse is to me. Less than an hour later, I got a call from one of the officers saying they may have found my purse. In the end, they helped me find it in the supermarket where I accidentally dropped it earlier. My purse and its contents were fully intact, and I was quite thrilled.

Though this may be a "trivial" event, these two officers demonstrated high level of integrity and care, as well as the quality of service provided by the esteemed Hong Kong Police Force. They have inspired me as a common citizen on community service. I think they both deserve recognition for the superb job that they have put out to install confidence in the public. Atlas, I would like to thank them both again for recovering my purse!

Ms Hsu

(Editor's note: The officers mentioned in this letter are PCs Chan Chun-him and Poon Chi-man.)
