RMPU HKI produces 'Blessing Safety Card' |
||
Regional Missing Person Unit Hong Kong Island (RMPU HKI) has discovered that few high risk missing persons, particularly elderly or mentally handicapped, carry identity cards, and hence it is difficult and time-consuming for frontline officers to ascertain their identities. In view of this, RMPU HKI has designed and produced a card, which carries the brief personal particulars and emergency contact information of high risk missing persons. Known as "Blessing Safety Card", it is small and convenient for high risk missing persons to carry. The objective of this initiative is to remind the public that prevention is better than cure. With the information contained on the "Blessing Safety Card", the public may come to the aid of high risk missing persons requiring urgent assistance, by alerting the emergency contact person, police or a supporting organisation. With the same information, frontline officers are able to ascertain the identity of a missing person and contact his or her family or an organisation. It is a useful tool to provide efficient services for missing persons. To promote the "Blessing Safety Card", officers from RMPU HKI will visit homes for the elderly in various districts as well as the elderly centres and the day activity centres for the mentally handicapped under the Social Welfare Department. They will introduce the card and fill in information for those in need. This tiny card represents RMPU officers' love and concern for those in need and aligns with the Strategic Directions on "Engaging the Community" and "Supporting Frontline Units". ![]() |
