A large gathering of Junior Police Call (JPC) Central Advisory Board members, Honorary Presidents, Police Community Relations Office staff and JPC members attended the JPC Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2011 at Police Headquarters on February 18.

At the meeting, Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent (CSP) Wong Kwok-wai traced JPC's developments and milestones in the past year, including opening of the JPC Man Yee Activity and Training Centre, first ever JPC Dragon Boat Charity Race, JPC School Club Workshop and exchange activities carried out overseas and on the Mainland. CSP Wong also introduced JPC projects in the pipeline.

At the same time, the Chairman of the JPC Central Advisory Board, Assistant Commissioner Lau Yip-shing, answered many questions from the floor and outlined JPC's future development strategies.

The Annual Lunch that followed the AGM was graced by the presence of the Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, and Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung. Mr Lee presented certificates of appreciation to 10 JPC Honorary Presidents who have served JPC for 25 years and eight JPC volunteers each of whom has chalked up over 200 hours of voluntary service for JPC training and activities.

In his speech, Mr Lee pointed out that membership topped 190 000 since JPC was established 37 years ago. JPC remains one of the largest youth groups in Hong Kong, and Mr Lee attributed its success to the efforts and hard work of Force members and JPC members, as well as the support of JPC Honorary Presidents and volunteers.

CP also presented certificates of appointment to the new term members of the Central Advisory Board and JPC Instructors, as well as certificates of appreciation to school clubs and teachers for their outstanding participation in the JPC scheme.
