The National Committee for Collection of Police Historical Relics (NCCPHR) formally came into being in Hubei Police College last October. Chairman of the Police Literature and Arts Association of China (PLAAC), Mr Zhu Chunlin, PLAAC Vice Chairman, Mr Wu Heping, PLAAC Secretary General, Mr Zhang Ce, the Force Curator, Dr Lam Kam-yuen, and representatives of Police Museums from 18 provinces and cities, including Jiangxi, Shandong, Shanghai and Beijing, attended the NCCPHR founding ceremony.

Delivering an opening speech, Mr Zhu said: "Research work on police artefacts fosters a connection between the cultural connotation of the real life stories of policing and museum exhibits. The starting point is to strengthen studies and pay more attention to research work on police historical relics."

In the seminar, Dr Lam gave a presentation, "The collections building in Hong Kong Police Museum - How does it work?", which included a brief introduction of Police Museum's history, basic exhibition, collection management, gems and sources of collection.

Dr Lam hopes to strengthen interaction and joint exhibition programmes with his Mainland counterparts, so that valuable artefacts of both sides would be displayed in different museums by rotation.

Through joint exhibition programmes, the NCCPHR will strengthen the co-operation among police museums at the national level, achieving the goal of sharing information and resources and contributing to the development of the police cultural activities on the Mainland.
