To support frontline investigators and recognise their contributions, Yuen Long District (YLDIST) held a presentation ceremony on January 26 for the "Yuen Long District Best District Investigation Team (DIT) Award" for the second half of 2011. After several rounds of judging, the DIT 10 won the contest, edging out nine other contenders, and received an award certificate from District Commander Mike Cartwright. The Chairman of the judging panel, Assistant District Commander (Crime) Li Wai-chi pointed out that the winning team came up with outstanding performances, be it in crime investigation, operational efficiency or office management. Not only did the team have good detection and conviction rates, it also worked hard to clear outstanding cases and set a record of zero complaint. Following a thorough investigation, members of the team mounted an operation last August, resulting in the arrest and prosecution of three men for posing as police officers in a case of Internet fraud, fully demonstrating their team spirit and professionalism. The team members were elated with their award. The Officer-in-charge, Inspector (IP) Law Man-ching, attributed her team's success to good team spirit and guidance from their supervisors. As she has joined the crime stream for only half a year, IP Law saw the award as a big motivation for team members and her. Mr Cartwright took the opportunity to thank his crime officers, including those from DIT, District Crime Squad, District Anti-Triad Squad and District Intelligence Section, for their contributions made last year, especially their professionalism in handling the "Choi Yuen Tsuen" incident and the Village Representative Election. He also praised officers for their efforts in dealing with late night violence and juvenile crimes in recent months. ![]() |
