Water rockets 'fire' on Family Day |
||
In support of the promotion of Physical Fitness and Health Management, Police Model Flying Club and Police Sports and Recreation Centre jointly organised a DIY Water Rocket contest for police families last December. It was a clear, fine day for families to take part in an outdoor activity to showcase their creativity. More than 30 families from different Formations participated in the event. Under the guidance of instructors and supporting the promotion of environmental protection, each family made a rocket by using two recyclable plastic bottles as its main outer hull, which was completed with improvised tailfins. Once filled with water, the rockets, driven by water pressure, ejected. The one soaring to the farthest distance would be the winner. Besides cheering on the participants, Chief Superintendent (Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch) Bernie So also judged the contest and presented prizes. Following over an hour's fierce competition, the water rocket made by the family of Mr Ng Kai-kwong from Weapons Training Division won the contest with a distance of over 45 metres, earning loud applause from the other participants. Applauding the participants, Mr So hoped the event would make officers and their families more aware of the benefits of wholesome activities and the importance of environmental protection. ![]() |
