The Police booth at the Education and Careers Expo held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 9 to 12 was a hit with visitors, attracting many young people interested in joining the Force and knowing more about police work. Besides the latest information on police recruitment, the visitors also came to know better the day-to-day work of different police units. While officers of Recruitment Division were on hand to process on-the-spot applications to join the Force, auxiliary police officers and mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme assisted in handling visitors' enquiries. Director of Personnel and Training Ma Wai-luk and senior officers from various police units visited the booth to see how well visitors received information and publicity on police recruitment. The booth also attracted many police families. Throughout the four-day exhibition, officers from Emergency Unit, Police Dog Unit, Traffic Formation, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Narcotics Bureau, Identification Bureau, Marine Small Boat Unit, Airport Security Unit and Crime Prevention Office introduced their work and equipment. A mini range manned by Weapons Training Division officers also attracted a lot of visitors. After watching some police demonstrations, a visitor commented: "I'm impressed with the professionalism displayed in the demonstrations." Another visitor, accompanied by his son, said: "After talking to the police officers here, I've more confidence in, and know more about, the Police Force. I will encourage my son to join the Police after graduation." During the Careers Expo, the police booth received more visitors and applications than the ones in 2010 and 2011. In the 2012 Careers Expo, Recruitment Division received about 800 applications for Probationary Inspector, Recruit Police Constable and Auxiliary Police Constable. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
